Default Google and Yahoo Sitemaps - 03-12-2010

Hi All,

My client has moved from php(their existing website) to storefront.
We have submitted the sitemap details to Google and Yahoo Sitemaps but when I am going through these 2 accounts it's showing PHP links which was developed(Old Site) and not showing the storefront links.

Google search aslo showing php links... what could be the reason for this?

Iam using ML64 8.0.1.2

Regards
Nagesh

Nagesh,

It will very much depend on how quickly Google is re-visiting your site pages and whether you've set up 301 page re-directs for all the old php-based links (much more important to do this rather than submit a new sitemap).

Google's index can often take some months before old pages are updated in the search results but as long as the re-directs are in place, visitors will end up somewhere sensible when they click on the old site links and you'll also keep any value Google has attributed to them.
