    Default Zoomify Product XML Package

    Hi
I would like to gauge the interest of other aspdnsf owners in a new set of Product XML Packages I have created along with a supporting XSLT Extension library for use with aspdnsf V7.

This innovation includes the Zoomify Viewer onto a Product Landing Page to give a highly interactive, easy to use zoom and pan navigable Product image. The Zoomify web site contains great examples and case studies of the use of the free Zoomify EZ Viewer.

The XSLT Extension I've created allows for the easy inclusion of the Zoomify EZ Viewer into most Product XML Package designs. My set of Packages includes variants based on the standard aspdnsf Product XML Packages.

The Zoomify converted image displayed by these Packages can be created from a high definition JPEG using the Zoomify Converter (available for free from www.zoomify.com) or via the Zoomify Export feature in Adobe's new PhotoShop CS3.

I have attached a datasheet with further information, found below.

With sufficient interest, I would like to continue development of this feature to further include (and make available to existing licensees):
    • Upload of Zoomify converted image via Administration Site
    • Upload of High Quality Image master via the Administration Site to be "Zoomified" by the server
    • Skinable Zoomify Viewer
    • Support for multi-image galleries

At the usual $50 for all of this functionality I think it represents great value, so if this sounds of interest, or you'd like to know more about the idea, please get in touch.

    Cheers
    Martin

Default Demonstration and further details of the Zoomify Product XML Package

    Hi
For those that are interested in discovering more about the Zoomify Product XML Package and XSLT Extensions Assembly, I have attached a zip archive of a complete HTML page that I saved out from FireFox2 whilst browsing an out-of-the-box ML V7.0.0.6 store to which I had:
    • Added my Zoomify XSLT Extensions assembly via web.config
    • Copied and then changed the SimpleProduct XML Package to use the Zoomify Extensions
    • reconfigured Simple Product 1 to use that new Zoomify Package
    • uploaded a Zoomify Export of a suitable large Product Image to complete the example

Please unzip the archive to a suitable folder (preserving folder names) and open the file Zoomify.htm using IE or FireFox and you should get a flavour of what it is all about. You will need to have a Flash Player plug-in for your Browser installed.

If you are using IE, then you may get an ActiveX Scripting warning because you will be attempting to run a Flash Movie from off of your hard disk. This will not occur when browsing the site from the Web. Please allow the scripts to run or you will not be able to see or interact with the Zoomify Viewer.

If you pause a moment though before you do accept the warning, then you will be able to see the down-level experience for people whose browser won’t display Flash, i.e. the normal medium sized image and an explanation as to why they don’t get the same experience as others.

The Zoomify enhancements I have created allow you to customise the Zoomify Viewer display parameters (e.g. how much zoom to allow, the initial zoom setting of the viewer etc.) as well as various strings via aspdnsf’s string manager that inform the User; such as the down-level Browser explanations. The whole thing is fully styled using CSS drawn via the skin and the page template and is easily added to other, custom Product XML Packages.

For more information about the Zoomify Viewer there are some great examples and case studies on Zoomify’s own web site, http://www.zoomify.com.

So that you know, the manifest for what I supply is:
    • XSLT Extension Assembly supplied in DLL format
    • An example Product XML Package based on the standard SimpleProduct XML Package
    • A HTML Help file documenting
      • The XSLT Extensions Assembly’s public methods
      • XML Package development guidance
      • The aspdnsf additional Application Configuration Variables and String Resources that can be used to customise the Zoomify Viewer
      • Example CSS to accompany the XML Package
      • Suggestions as to how to convert images and upload them to the web site
      • Installation guidance
      • Details of web.config modifications required to load the XSLT Extensions Assembly
    • The Zoomify EZ Converter and Zoomify EZ Viewer

I hope you like what you see.
