Category name in product URL using rewrite rules

My client would like to change the product URLs on the site to not use the "p-" and to add the category name. For example, the current page http://www.mydomain.com/p-1111-productname.aspx would become http://www.mydomain.com/category-nam...oductname.aspx. I've checked the forums on this question and see several requests for help but no solutions. Is this not possible or advisable? Thanks for the input! Annette

The desired URL string got cut-off above, so entering it in again. After the domain name, the URL string would be:
/category-name-1111-productname.aspx
