Exclude products from discount coupon/code

One of our stores is already selling products at a discounted rate and we want to stop any discount code being used. Through looking at the forum it seems the way is to list all other ProductID's and exclude these in the 'Valid For Product(s)' field.

However we have close to 30,000 products, over 500 discount coupons and you can imagine the time involved to do this. Also putting them into another category won't work as the site has over 200 categories.

Is there no easier way of just ticking a box that says "Not available for discount" on a product?

I know there is the possibility of mapping coupons per Store ID but maybe it's a bug in 9.0.1.3 but it looks like that is not working.
