Coupon does not work when other products added to cart...

I created a coupon that is for Free Shipping on orders over $69.00. I needed for it to apply to every product except for a few that were heavy weight items so I added in all of the product id numbers except for the ones I wanted to exclude.

My problem is that the coupon works fine when I add the products that are excluded and it works fine on the products that should be allowed to have free shipping but when I combine the two in a shopping cart and use the coupon code it wants to give free shipping to the entire order.

I need it to calculate the shipping on the items that are heavy but still give the free shipping to the other items.

Shouldn't the coupon work this way or is there a way to get it to work?

I have tried setting up the coupon both ways - "Order" and "Product" and it does not work either way.

That's the expected behavior for a free shipping coupon:

Discount Includes Free Shipping: If this is set to true, the coupon grants free shipping for the ENTIRE order, in addition to any discounts given above.

Make sure you have the coupon type set to Product, or the discount'll apply to any order regardless of what's in it.

As stated above, I have tried the coupon both ways - set to "order" and set to "product" and it does not work.

It works fine if the shopping cart only has the items in it that are included or excluded from the code but as soon as there is a combination of both the coupon does not work and gives the entire order free shipping.

Yup, like I said that's how it's designed (and stated in the manual).

The last comment was just a reminder to switch it back to Product if you still had it on Order, so it at least requires the right products for the rest of the discount.

I understand that the manual says if the Free Shipping button is checked it applies to the entire order however this is not correct. I have that button check and if my shopping cart only contains items that I did not include in the Product ID list it in fact DOES NOT give the free shipping.

As soon as I add an item that is in the list however along with the item that is not included it gives me free shipping.

I need it to not do this. Is there not a way for this to be done? I need it to still calculate what the shipping would cost on the product that should not get free shipping and display that price instead of free.

Is this not possible?

The manual is correct. If the coupon is set to include free shipping and the coupon is valid (which depends on the coupon type and what's in your cart) ALL items get free shipping. If the coupon is invalid for any other reason (say - the wrong things in the cart) then no, you don't get free shipping as the coupon isn't actually being applied. They're 2 separate things, one depending on the other.

There is no way to configure a coupon so that it only grants free shipping to just specific products, no.
