exempting gift certificates from coupon codes

We are using 7.1 and want to create a coupon code that cannot be applied to gift certificates. Is there some fairly simple way to do this?

In older versions, you'd have to make the coupon a Product-level coupon and then list out all the products it DID allow, leaving off the ones you didn't want to get the discount.

In recent 8x versions, we've added the ability to list products that the coupon excludes as well, so you'd have a lot fewer to list.
