Performance issue with MultiStore 9.3

Hi,

Our current website is running on version 8.1 ML/64 and we are planning to upgrade it to 9.3.1. Have anybody noticed performance issues with 9.3 version in terms of the response time? I have noticed that the official website of aspdotnet storefront itself is somewhat slow currently and I have seen "Please wait while we restart the website" message on their website when I tried to access a page.

On our dev server where we have the 9.3 website, I have seen that the site takes a lot of time to respond (probably restarting) if I go to a page after being idle for say 15 min and I see the same "Please wait while we are restarting the site" message. I don't see this happening on our current website that is on 8.1 ML/64. Is this a new issue? Is it related to caching? Does the site require caching enabled to prevent from restarting on no activity?

Any insight into these issues are greatly appreciated and as we embark on this big upgrade project, your inputs are very valuable.

Cart Promo Count/Clear Cart Promos

I need to be able to programatically determine if the cart has Promotions assigned and then clear the promotions from the cart if certain products are in the cart. I cannot find the methods similar to Cart.HasCoupon() and cart.ClearCoupon() in the new promotions engine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Save My Credit Card Info Default

Hello,

Is there a way to default the checkbox for Save My Credit Card Info? We don't charge credit cards until items are shipped and we are getting many orders where the customer decides not to save the credit card information. We then have to call or email them for the card information.

We have to do this because we list over 170K skus and many are not in stock, but readily available from our vendors. Some items can be shipped immediately while others may be backordered for a long period of time.

I took a look at the appconfigs and ask our dev partner, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do it. Is there a workaround?

skin change / New logo

I have upgraded to multi-store, and now I am wanting to change my logo design change for a fresh look... I understand that the "skin's" folder is now in the App-Templates folder. But looking in my Skin1 file I do not see the HTML code to change my logo. Where do I find it? I also want to change the colors in the navigation bar... any help would be appreciated...

Calling a Topic from a section

Is it possible to call a topic from a section name, rather than linking to a section I need a section name to point to a topic.

If I wrap an href around a category name, this does the trick (below)...

but creating the same type of href in a section name generates a url like below

Forcing shopping cart to Request Quote for certain items

Hi all,

I have a situation where certain variations of a product can only be submitted for a RFQ instead of allowing to be purchased. (Ie. the same product can be purchased directly from website in OEM packaging but requires a quote for Retail packaging).

Is there a way to force the shopping cart to automatically select Request Quote payment method if a certain variant is in the shopping cart?

I am using MS 9.1.0.1 and don't have full source code.

PayFlowPro Recurring Issues

Hi Guys,

Recurring orders change from Month to Day, when using PayFlowPro:

This is the method to reproduce the issue:

0- Connect to PayFlowPro using Multistore 9.3.1.0, and do not use "UseGatewayInternalBilling" (I decide to manage recurring orders myself)

1- I go to the productvariant view of a product and see the available recurringintervals from PayFlowPro (see image)

2- In the Admin area I then go to the following to process recurring orders:
Orders -> Recurring Orders -> Recurring Shipments Due Today

3- I look at the first recurring order that I have and select the dropdown box as shown below, and realize that this table has different values than those from PayFlowPro:

4- I check the tables Shoppingcart and see positive integers for the column RecurringIntervalType, the ones used before connecting to PayFlowPro.

5- I Check the table ProductVariant and see negative integers for the column RecurringIntervalType, PayFlowPro uses these.

6- A New Order is placed using the negative recurringintervaltype from PayFlowPro, for a "Monthly" recurring interval.

7- When I go to process the new order using the payflowpro negative integers, the recurring screen where we process the recurring orders now shows "Day" rather than "Month" on the new orders. It appears it cannot distinguish what the negative recurringintervaltype in the screen. You can see this when you process the new recurring orders: (Orders -> Recurring Orders -> Recurring Shipments Due Today)

Is there an update that will make this work properly, or a way to not bring down the PayFlowPro recurring choices from paypal and only stick with the internal selection of day, week, month, year?

InvalidRequest.aspx (simple product)

Browsing categories I can get lists of products I have in my DB. That's fine.

However, if I click onto ANY product (e.g. p-611841-one-strap.aspx) it simply gets me to the InvalidRequest.aspx page.

What would be the more possible cause to this issue?

Where to edit MSx Icon in Mobile Themes

We just upgraded. Mobile theme is working fine, but we can't figure out where to swap out the MSx icon for our Mobile Logo we had been using in version 9.2.
Any tips?

Customers ordering products that are unpublished

We have one wholesale customer that is able to purchase products that are in the database but are unpublished (because they are out of stock). I thought that they may use a cookie editor to add those products (the item, description, and price matches) and then go back to the website and continue with the checkout.

Is this a possibility? If yes, then is there any way to prevent them from doing this?

default redirect from admin folder in MS 9.3.1

Hi,

We are currently upgrading from Ml/64 8.1 to MS 9.3.1. I have noticed that when I go to http://sitedomain/Admin, I am redirected to https://sitedomain/signin.aspx?ReturnUrl=Admin . It works fine if I go directly to http://sitedomain/Admin/default.aspx where in I am directed to https://sitedomain/Admin/signin.aspx. Could somebody tell me where the redirect is taking place in the first case when I go to just http://sitedomain/Admin? I have checked and the default document for admin folder in IIS is set to default.aspx.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Internet Sales Tax Questions - Marketplace Fairness Act

I have been doing some research on the proposed legislation regarding the Marketplace Fairness Act.

1) Based on my research it looks like aspdotnetstorefront.com has a plug in using Avalara AvaTax. I looked at their program and it appears Avalara charges a fee per transaction for their tax service. Does anyone use this? How does it work? Is it expensive?

2) I also visited the website http://www.marketplacefairness.org/ . Their website indicates that http://www.taxcloud.net/ is free software that plugs into websites and calculates the various sales taxes from different states. Yesterday, I spoke to a representative at Tax Cloud and they said there are NO FEES at all to use their software. It is totally FREE. However, the representative said they had contacted aspdotnetstorefront.net about integrating their program into their ecommerece software. According to Tax Cloud they will even provide funding to help ecommerce platforms such as Vortex integrate their software with the Tax Cloud program. Tax Cloud said so far Vortex has not expressed an interest in integrating their cart with this option.

Does anyone use Tax Cloud? Can anyone share the steps needed to integrate Vortex shopping carts with Tax Cloud?

Depreciated SQL Server Field Types

As you are planning for more updates it would be good to keep in mind the following datatypes in SQL Server are no longer in use/recommended, and/or will be depreciated.

In fact, replacing all ntext with nvarchar(MAX) will yield a smaller faster database in most cases.

orderframe.aspx Change Suggestion

I was recently tasked with adding estimated ship time support to the store. This project includes a form for entering an estimated ship time that would send out an email and a place the estimated ship date on the orderframe.aspx page to show what the last-emailed value was. Well, I would like to suggest a change to the orderframe.aspx page that would make maintenance of that page much easier.

Instead of putting a comment where there is a new part of the table to be created, how about making that another function that is called. This way the entire code file wouldn't be one giant 1,600+ line Page_Load function.
Instead of building a string of HTML code, why not use the various classes that .Net comes with for building pages like the TableRow and TableCall classes.

Honestly, it would be much appreciated if you would change your entire code-base to never emit HTML as a string and instead use the proper classes for doing such things. The way things are done now is prone to bugs, is very difficult to maintain, virtually impossible to read, and prevents VS2010 from checking over the code for compliance with standards and from adding Intellisense to the code.

I would suggest that every page you touch from now on you make sure it doesn't build HTML using strings. It may add a little time to the modification of each page you touch, but after a short time I'm sure many of the pages would end up being touched and thus being fixed of this really bad design practice. Clean up that code debt...after all nobody likes debt!
